The fourth law of power by Robert Greene is “always say less than necessary”

How I wish, yearn, ache that I followed this rule since the day I started talking. It was so easy for manipulative people to extract things from my mouth, things I should not have said, self destructive things.

These witches used this weakness against me again and again! Finally I learned the lesson, but even then I sometimes feel that it would have been so much better if I had learned this lesson years ago.

It is a truth, the more we speak the more familiar we become and the more weak we appear to others, and sooner or later something deadly tumbles out, and not only that we become quite an open book, that can lead to our destruction if we dwell amongst sharks.
